Independent Safeguarding Authority Update

Date: 17-06-2008

The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) has been created to help prevent unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults.

The ISA will be working in  partnership with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), which will gather relevant information on every person who wants to work or volunteer with vulnerable people

The ISA scheme ‘goes live on' 12 October 2009

After 12th Oct 2009 staff will need to be ISA registered before taking up post where their job role comes under the provision of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act rather that the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975

Individuals in paid employment will pay £64 when applying for registration with the ISA Scheme, if their job role should require them to have an Enhanced Disclosure. this will result in a Disclosure certificate and a notification of the ISA Registration.
